Death by Chocolate Birthday Cake

Our entire family loves chocolate, so it was a no brainer when my sister asked me to make her the Kit Kat cake, but instead of cake with brownies AND frost it with ganache AND decorate with Maltesers, Smarties and M&M's. In the end, the cake turned out great and everybody loved it.

This cake was pretty easy to make, except that it involves a bit of math to get the amount of Kit Kats right.
Two Kit kats measure 3.5cm, so for an 8.5 inch (22,5cm) cake pan you would need about 12 Large Kit Kats.

To make this cake, you'll need:
  • 2 brownies baked in cake pans (you can use this recipe)
  • 2X Chocolate ganache frosting, cooled
  • Kit Kats (quantity depends on the size of the cake)
  • Maltesers
  • M&M's
  • Smarties
Directions:

  1. Spread ganache onto the first cake layer. Place Maltesers onto the cake, so it is completely covered and cover it again in ganache.
  2. Place the second cake layer onto the first. Cover the entire cake with ganache.
  3. Snap the Kit Kats into pairs, then place them around the cake. You may tie a ribbon around it for extra support.
  4. Decorate the cake with the candy.
  5. Refrigerate the cake before serving.
Enjoy the cake :)
