How to make your own sprinkles!

When I started using Pinterest, I found two recipes for sprinkles. One for colourful ones and one for chocolate. Since the colourful sprinkles needed an egg white, I decided to rather make the chocolate ones instead of trying to find a recipe with an extra egg yolk.

Here is the simple recipe for Chocolate sprinkles:

Ingredients:

  • 5 ounces powdered sugar (140 g)
  • 1 and 1/4 ounces cocoa powder (35 g)
  • 1 ounce water (30 ml)
  • 1/2 ounce vanilla extract (15 ml)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (2.5 ml)
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee (2.5ml)

Directions:
Using a hand or stand mixer, blend all of the ingredients on low speed until the powdered sugar becomes thoroughly moistened. Turn up the speed to medium until the mixture becomes a smooth paste.
Make sure there aren't any clumps in the mixture, because they could clog the pastry tip.
Use a small plain tip or a multi-opening tip with a pastry bag. Fill it and pipe long rows on lined parchment paper pans.
Place the trays somewhere safe and let air dry for 24 hours.
After 24 hours, gather all of the sprinkle sticks and chop them into sprinkle sized bits.
Put it into an airtight container. I put it into an old spice jar.

Now you can put sprinkles on everything!!!!!!
